Hello friends and family!

adventuretoafrica:

I, along with five other DTS students, have arrived safe and sound!  All is well, and all is hot! Not too much has been going on yet, so I don’t have much to say!  Thanks for your prayers as we all traveled here, and your continued prayers for the rest of our stay!

In love like Christ,

Alexander

:)

Hey everyone :)

Some of you were following Alexander’s (my boyfriend) Africa blog while he travelled there in October/November!
And if you’ve seen other posts recently about his trip, you’ll know that he is going back to Africa for the DTS (Discipleship Training School) at YWAM (You With A Mission) at the Hopeland base in Uganda!

Well, today is the day! I am leaving now to go with him and his parents to take him to the airport! He will be living in Uganda and traveling to Kenya and Tanzania, and he will return home on July 20th :)

I want to thank those of you who are already following his Africa blog, and I’d also like to encourage everyone else to take a look at it! It’s the same blog that he used for his previous trip, and he will be continuing to post on that same blog to document his experiences on this trip as well :)

So the link is adventuretoafrica.tumblr.com  so please follow it and spread the good news of his posts :)

I also ask you to keep Alexander in your prayers:) And me as well, if you don’t mind! It will be a bit weird for both of us to be apart for such a long time after being together for 3 years lol

Thanks guys! God bless you :)

adventuretoafrica:

Last night at dinner, Danny and I shared some thoughts.  Our main topic of discussion, was poverty.  We both came to the same conclusion, and I’d like to share it briefly.
Poverty must fix itself. It’s a very simple concept, but difficult to grasp at the same time.  We say this because financial, medical, and any other type of aide from the ouside world is of assistance, but it’s not a solution.  Specifically in Africa, I believe that the solution will and must come from within.
Are you following me?
Unfortunately, we, as wealthy and succesful “Westerners” still feel obligated to come up with that solution.  We still feel as though we have the resources and ability to save this county, this continent, this world; but we don’t.
You know why?
Because we have all the money in the world.  We have all cars, and the clothes, and the toys, and what we think to be “happiness” in the world.  But that is the farthest thing from what these people need, and the farthest thing to the solution to poverty.
How long will you slumber? So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,And your need like an armed man.

Hello again :)

I know that I’ve been saying this a lot, but I want to remind you to check out adventuretoafrica.tumblr.com

I’m not saying this because I want to help my boyfriend get followers or anything like that. I’m recommending that you follow this blog or at least read the posts because the contents are incredible. Not only are the pictures amazing, but they really portray life in Africa and show the type of faith these people have. And the messages in the posts are so full of truth and really cause you to stop in think.

So please, go check it out, for your own personal benefit, and to support Alexander on his trip!

Thanks guys :)
Love you all!
God bless <3

You know what confuses me?
95% of the people I’ve met here, are devoted Christians.  95%.
As you can see in this picture, an image of a man spontaniously worshipping with fellow believers in the middle of the street, these Ugandans aren’t ashamed of their faith.
They are thankful.
So why, in the western world, the United States, and specifically Canada, do so many people doubt and not believe in God?
We have so much more to be thankful for, in the area of material things.  All these Africans have is life.  That’s it. And that’s enough.  They are continually praising and thanking God for life, because that’s all they have.
I am comforted by this, because I have witnessed pure hearts; but at the same time, I am so disturbed.
Contrary to my mindset before I arrived, these Africans aren’t in need of prayer; we are.
